In digital cameras a third alternative is also possible: the electronic shutter. This works by activating and then deactivating the CCD so that no further light can be recorded, regardless of whether light is hitting the CCD. The shutter controls the exposure time, which can range from thousandths of a second to several minutes or more. Fast shutter speeds freeze action, slow speeds are more suited to stationary subjects. A tripod is recommended for slow exposure shots to avoid camera shake, or IBIS. More and iris do not function. It is therefore spares or repair.

The Yashica Lynx series of cameras are all fixed lens, leaf shutter rangefinder cameras made in the 1960s. They have an all metal body. There are five Lynx models: 1000, 5000, 5000e, 14 and 14e. All have built-in meters, full manual settings, and Yashinon lenses. The 1000, 5000, and 5000e have an f/1.8 Yashinon lens. The 14 and 14e have the excellent and very fast f/1.4 lens – hence the 14 name.
