My Thoughts on this Camera

This is a great pocketable camera with a fast zoom lens, shoots Raw, ND filter and more….  Less bulky than the Canon G12, but still with manual controls. I find that I take more shots when I am out, as it is so easy to switch ion and shoot.

I particularly like adjustment ring on the lens that can change the apperture or shutter speed demding on the setting. It’s a bit like the same feature on the old olympus SLRs.

My Olympus XZ-1 also has an auto lens cap which opens when I switch the camera on. This makes it even faster to use and the lens is protected.

I like to shoot RAW and jpeg so that I can get an image from the art filters. The screen will also show the art filter view so if you choose B&W you will get an idea what the image will look like and you still get the RAW image…

The panorama feature os also pretty cool and easy to use…  I feel that capturing a panorama is a little 20th Century for some reason and that few people do this now? Maybe it’s because video has taken over from stills in this area  – it’s easy to just pan the horizon with your iPhone?  There used to be lots of discussion about how to capture the best panorama and lots of pixel peeping to see who had achieved the best results (often an the expense of whether the image  created any feelings).

Last, as this camera is so easy to carry and use I have shot lots of images whilst out walking and submitted these to various micro stock sites – and yes they have been accepted and sold. I have used Lightroom and Topaz software to make sure that they are clean and well balanced. Perhaps I will earn more form the camera than I paid for it… win win

My Last Thoughts - Keep & Use, or Sell?

Will I keep it? Yes – it’s a small camera and all I need is a battery charger/cable and SD card.
Will I use it? Yes, very easy to use and I like the ART filters.
